    Hammersmith a question can I use this hydraulic crimper for a 3/8” steel cable (4x4 winch) and Ferrell in this machine. I would use this to tie in a tail of a Flemish/farmers loop.

    8:30 sorry for being pedantic but test should show that the cable breaks before the connection, not that it pulled out of the timber. Your test checked the quality of the timber, not the fitting. Also, you didn’t say if the failure tension exceeded the fitting’s rating or not. If it pulled out below the tension rating, the test is meaningless. I’d recommend you do a test where the anchoring isn’t the failure point.

    hig - just wondering - in terms of application - whats the difference between TWA Woodcare 300g Ecoseal Tanalised Timber Treatment and Tanalised 300g Clear Enseal Timber Treatment?

    • @tuberider1171
      @tuberider1171 Год назад

      A quick look at the biocide ingredients suggests the Ecoseal has permethrin and copper naphthenate whilst the Enseal has zinc napthalene and permethrin. So both has permethrin which is an insecticide so good for termite protection. Pyrethroids are synthetic chemicals that act like natural extracts from the chrysanthemum flower. Ecoseal's copper naphthenate is used to protect against fungal rot, decay, termites and wood-boring insects. Wood treated with copper naphthenate is specified for exterior above ground as well as, ground contact, and . Copper naphthenate is also used as protective wood preservative surface treatments when applied to bare seasoned wood. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper_naphthenate. Enseal's Zinc naphthenate is similar to copper naphthenate but is less effective in preventing decay from wood-destroying fungi and mildew. It is light colored and does not impart the characteristic greenish color of copper naphthenate. Zinc naphthenate is not used for pressure treating and is not intended as a stand-alone preservative. See www.fpl.fs.usda.gov/documnts/fplgtr/fplgtr113/ch14.pdf So I guess the clear is good for above ground where fungal issues are not likely to be a concern and you don't want a green finish

    Great vid explaining swageless ballustrade fittings. Just bought the swageless version but with tapered jaw clamp ends from Pinnacle. Seems like great quality gear, just wanted to see a vid on how exactly to best make these work for a tight finish. I would have liked to see a vid showing the tapered version in situe ie between a couple of posts showing exactly the best way to get the tension you need. I figure I need to undo the turnbuckle as much as possible, cut the cable to length and see if it tensions up nicely. I'm sure it will be fine, thanks for the information Hammersmith DIY.
